Ian Paananen has a Degree in Agricultural Science majoring in Horticulture and extensive experience in commercial plant industries. He has been involved in the PBR protection of new plant varieties since 1990 (originally it was PVR).

​

In 1996 he established Crop & Nursery Services with services in PBR, Plant Tissue Culture and Integrated Pest and Disease Management. Today the service is all about protection of breeder's intellectual property - their new varieties!

Crop & Nursery Services has done the A to Z of plant genera and species with more than 1000 applications filed on behalf of clients. Our current portfolio has a wide range of crop types: Ornamental; Landscape; Turf; Fodder; Fruit; Berry; Industrial and Medicinal (Hemp and other Essential Oils and Fibres); Cut Flowers; Vegetable; Cereals, Grains and Pulses.

We work with many breeders, agents, attorneys and growers around Australia and overseas. As an independent service provider we assist with comparing varieties from competing growers and breeders, keeping them comfortable in the knowledge we have no bias and respect confidential information.

 

And we provide the plant, botanical, horticultural and procedural expertise for the attorneys as well!
